According to USCF Medical Center, the average American eats five or more teaspoons of salt each day. This is about 20 times as much as the body needs. In fact, your body needs only one quarter of a teaspoon of salt every day.
What happens if your sodium intake is high? Too much sodium in your diet can cause your body to retain excess fluid. This excess fluid can collect in your hands, ankles, belly, and lungs. This is especially important for patients with liver, heart, or kidney disease.

Hi there, my name is Tammee and I have a T1D son, J. He is 14 years old and was DX'd in June of 06. He started pumping quickly on the MM722 in Aug. of 06 and we began using the Dexcom CGMS in Oct. of 08.
My son struggles with a rare autoimmune disease as well, which makes his life quite difficult to manage. He has an autoimmune disease (CVID) that in his case presents with low platelets, enlarged lymph nodes (in his neck, groin and lungs), enlarged spleen and liver and has no immunities (those c…

I am a Nutritional Therapy Coach. I was recently diagnosed as "Pre-Diabetic"
My Dad died from T2, piece by piece, first his big toe, then his foot, then his leg.
He died of a heart attach as 70% of T2s.
I am collecting information on using nutrition to treat T2 and would appreciate any
experiences you may have had with nutritional treatments, good or bad.
Thank you!

If your a type 2 diabetic, do you know what your C-Peptide (C-pep) level is? I didn't until very recently. The C-pep test is a blood test that can be done at the same time as your other regular a1C and cholesterol bloodwork. If you've had one, and it is possible you haven't, check with your doctor and discuss your results. My quick understanding is that when your pancreas kicks out insulin it also sends out an equal amount of C-pep and is a good measurement of how much insulin you are producing.…

“JMIAH – My Story”
Jeremy Williamson
Coming to my senses in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at University Hospital, Augusta, Georgia, in May 1989, I realized something was different with me, but I had NO IDEA yet what it could be.
I began my journey with Type 1 Juvenile Diabetes when I was in seventh grade. My education on the topic didn’t come from a class project or a report that was due in science but from nearly dying of the disease.
I was a normal 13 year-old, living life the way teens…

hi everyone! things have been going alright for me in "d"land, so far. i've been checking my blood sugar way too much tho and i think i'm just stressing myself out about it. but whatever! one problem i am having tho is lows, around the 60's or 70's, two hours after eating. i know it's not life threatening or anything, but it's just not a comfortable level for me. i always try to count my carbs as best as i can and measure everything out [unless i'm eating out of course, then it's just a confusin…

it's been exactly one month since i was diagnosed with t1 diabetes. [[did i mention i was diagnosed on my parents 25th wedding anniversary]]. in that month life has, obviously, changed a lot, but i have also learned so much about myself and just life in general. there have been ups and downs and times when it just plain sucks and even felt sorry for myself. but i realize that reflecting on the bad is no way to live and know that in the end diabetes really will make me a better and healthier pers…

Just went to the doctor today for my BPPV (long name for vertigo) and since the first med didn't work they now have me on valium. Now I'm not a big fan of hard script drugs but this may be good hopefully for my dizziness AND my nerves. I've been a Type 1 for almost 25 years now. I've been pumping for almost 1.5 years now and so far it's better then shots but still not perfect yet. I find too many things jeopardize my sugar levels. Also my fiance and I have been trying to conceive for over a year…
