Great attitude Melissa. I absolutely agree with you. Insulin is often a final step in the progress of a type 2....it is not unusual to go on insulin after having type 2 for some time. Jeesh, I hope being on insulin doesn't make someone bad,,,,,cause I've been terrible for over 45 years...lol. I am glad to hear that you are gaining on it. As you continue to understand the effects of insulin on your body, things will get easier. Like I said before, stay close to your monitor as you figure this thing out. Time will make it all make more sense, and give you more confidence in you management of the D. Hang in there, and keep thinking right.....:)

At first I thought it was scary to use the needles. My ex doc used the "going on insulin" as a bad thing and as a threat I felt. He put a lot of bad images in my mind about it and I felt when he done this he labeled me as a bad person or something. Any ways that is how I felt.
I changed docs since then now am starting to really get my BG numbers down. They were 176 this morning. Small baby steps with this I know but I know that I am not a bad person but a person who wants to change my health all for the good.
I am starting to control my diabetes and not the other way around. Granted it was kinda spooky to start injecting myself. but what is the alternative? I see none. I refuse to allow myself to have a "self pity party in a garbage can". I want to think positive and be positive. I keep telling myself that and who knows it will happen.

Hi Melissa, are you feeling icky because you are going hypo? ...low
I would stay close to my glucose monitor, check often , and see if you can tie it to a high or low...you may have to adjust up or down.Check with your doc. See if you can tie it to glucose levels.

I just started taking injections twice a day since last Monday. It sucks but I know that it will really help me feel better in the long run. Is it normal to feel slightly icky after you inject yourself... I am thinking it is in my head or something. Just feel slightly queezed out.

Hi, I am a newbie to the whole site and to this group...and I needle! Yes, I do. FS-4X a day and coverage with Reg. Insulin, then Lantus at night. It' been a stuggle. I don't know how to get rid of the constant hunger I feel, which in turn makes me non-compliant at times with my diet, and I hate myself for that since logically I 'know' better.
