Good Luck with the process....I have found my Dexcom to be a big help. It is usually pretty accurate...not always though. You still have to use a meter to confirm sometimes but all in all, it has been a big help to me for the past 3 years or so. I often am hypo unaware so it is helpful in letting me know whats going on....It does have a bit of a learning curve but not bad. The biggest problem I had in the beginning was that I would overbolus as I watched my numbers go up...It was a bit unnerving...LOL
But I finally got comfortable with watching how it all worked. I hope it happens for you soon...................Best

I'm ready to get one. My endo is singing the virtues of CGM, and the Dexcom. Especially since I have some low bg issues and family history of hypoglycemic mortality. Waiting to get the bg reports they need. Should have it by the end of the summer.

Congrats on your new toys..lol I use a Mini med pump and a Dexcom CGMS so mine works a little different. I have found (over about 3 years) that the CGMS is still not yet a exact science ...it is often right, sometimes wrong...but it is a good tool for me. Hang in there and learn all you can, quickly..I think you'll come to understand it and love it over time...I know I have. Use your standard meter a lot until you get the cgms figurd out....Best wishes..

Good luck with your CGMS Melenee. I have been on one for coming up on 3 years now. There is a learning curve, and it isn't always perfect science, but it is a good tool in the Diabetes Arsenal. I hope you find much success with your Meter. It can be a bit frustrating in the beginning, but once you learn the ins and outs, it does get better.

Woo hoo, good news, just found out that my new insurance, Aetna will now cover Dexcom CGMS at 70%. Of course, there is that dang 2000.00 deductible to overcome, but with the cost of pump supplies and everything else, that seems a lot better than a pat "NO" from Blue Cross Blue Shield

I am considering a CGM unit too... When I checked with the maker of my insulin pump (Medtronic) they were very help full and very commited to doing all the work regarding approval from the insurance company. The only thing required from me as approval from my endocronologist & about 6 weeks worth of testing records

Call whomever it is you would get the pump from... they will walk you through everything and talk to your diabetes educator
